About me

Andres Jimenez - Software Developer

Hi, I’m Andrés Jiménez, a backend developer using Java.

With over three years in the field — mostly at FITIDEAS S.A.S. — I’ve had the chance to dive into challenging projects, lead technical teams, and design architectures focused on performance and growth.

“My entire journey has been self-taught.”
This path constantly teaches me about discipline, curiosity, and the importance of never standing still. Alongside deep technical know-how, I’ve honed leadership, strategy, and a strong commitment to software quality.

My main work revolves around Java and Spring, but I love exploring tech like MQTT, RTSP/HLS, Docker, AWS, WebSockets, and a variety of SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server). What excites me most is designing backend systems that are clean, maintainable, and architecturally sound.

I’m proud of building remote management systems for gas stations (with live IoT and video streaming), notification microservices reaching 27,000+ users, and implementing solid accounting platforms for corporate clients. Each project has pushed me to blend scalability and maintainability creatively.

Outside the daily grind, I’m always leveling up my tech skills.

“I’m currently focused on algorithms and data structures — because I truly believe solid problem-solving is key to stepping into senior or lead roles, and enjoying the craft even more.”

This blog is my notebook for sharing what I learn, reflecting out loud, and connecting with fellow developers — especially self-taught ones.
Here you’ll find:

  • Technical notes
  • Personal tips
  • Backend best practices
  • Real-world lessons

Always shared from hands-on experience over pure theory.

“I genuinely believe continuous learning fuels true career growth.”

This space is my way of contributing to the developer community, and it’s an open invitation: if any post helps or inspires you, I’d love to hear your story or thoughts!

Thanks for stopping by and joining me on this learning journey.
